- The size off the old filter (e.g. 16x25x1)
- A new filter of that size

1. Switch the system off
Some closets have a switch next to the unit.
2. Slide the old filter out and read the size and arrow
Take a photo.
3. Slide the new one in with the arrow pointing toward the blower / into the unit
Not toward the return grille if the slot is at the air handler.
4. Turn the system back on and write the date on the frame
Change cheap 1-inch filters about every 1–3 months.
If it still fails
- The wrong size leaves a gap. Air will bypass the filter.
